Looking for a housemate to move in in time for the start of the next academic year.
The house is a three bedroom in Hales Place, about 10-15 minutes walk from campus and about 15-20 minutes walk into the city centre.
Currently two second year female social anthropology students living there, the third housemate is moving out due to a bad breakup and we need to fill the third room!
Comment/email me a jh376@kent.ac.uk if you're interested in more details.

The Gender Public Advocacy Coalition is pleased to announce the release of its 2008 GENIUS Survey in partnership with Ernst & Young.  GenderPAC works to ensure that classrooms, communities and workplaces are safe for everyone to learn, grow and succeed.

The Gender Equality National Index for Universities & Schools (GENIUS), GenderPAC’s most recent effort to end discrimination and promote awareness, encourages colleges and universities to recognize the benefits of a GenderSAFEtm campus - supportive equitable and protective for all students. Choosing to participate in GENUIS sends a strong public statement that bullying or discriminating based on the race, sex or gender of a student, faculty, or staff member is not tolerated at your institution

Fill out the survey at:  www.gpac.org/GENIUS2008survey, and make sure that we have data for as many schools as possible. Your voice will help us continue to work towards a safe and welcoming environment for every student.

While we greatly appreciate the interest taken in GENIUS by students, staff and faculty at academic institutions outside of the United States, at this time GENIUS is only able to track schools based in the United States.

Right, I hope someone can help me there. I'm looking for a room for my girlfriend and I to share over the summer, for at least July, preferably both July and August. It wouldn't be any longer than until the end of August. For obvious reasons it's hard to find a room/house for just that length of time in Canterbury, so ideally I would be looking to sub-let off someone who isn't going to be living in their house for the summer months.

As for rent/bills/etc if I do end up sub-letting off someone, I'm sure we can come to a good deal based on what your currently paying (i.e. bills inclusive or not and so on).

Any help/offers/pokes in the right direction would be very much appriciated. Comments screened for if you want to leave contact details.

Hi!
I am sorry for the extreme cheekiness of this post, but I am quite desperate! I need male volunteers to take part in a Psychology study. It takes around 30 minutes, and you get £5 for taking part. The study involves two questionnaires and a computer task. It takes in Keynes college at the University of Kent.

If you are interested in taking part please email me, or reply to this post. I have been given a deadline of two weeks to get lots of participants, so please help me out!!

Thanks,

Emily (kitten AT uncouth DOT me DOT uk)

If so, I'd love you for ever for it :-D

I recently graduated and have several good textbooks for mathematics modules at UKC and elsewhere and 1 (mint, unused) copy of 'Kreyzig's Advanced Engineering Mathematics'.

I know how expensive these can be, so if anyone or anyone you know needs any please e-mail me at:

robbrady at fsmail dot net

Will sell at less than half price. Will deliver to UKC/CCUC free.
Alternatively, does anyone know if there is a book exchange/sales service at UKC? Or simply where students can place ads/cards ;)

Cheers, Rob

We are three second year students looking for a housemate to join our house in Ulcombe Gardens.  We already live here (two girls, two boys) but one of the boys is moving out.

The house is in Hales Place, which is convenient for uni, being a twenty minute walk.  There is also a regular bus service to campus and a regular bus into town.  The bus stop is about a two minute walk.

The house has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, huge living room, small garden at the back and plenty of parking if you drive.

We are friendly fun people, looking for a definite non-smoker. We are sociable people who like to have a laugh but as we'll be going into our final year next year will obviously need a bit of peace and quiet in the house to try to enable us to pass our degrees!  So we aren't really looking for a massive party animal!

The rent is £315 per month, and it's half price for July and August. We have wireless internet installed, a TV with Freeview in the living room, a spacious fridge-freezer as well as an extra freezer. Bills are not included in the rent, but tend to be just your average sized bills.

If you have any questions or want to arrange a look around the house, please leave a comment or email me at jazabelle at gmail dot com.

Current Mood: tired tired

##
Sorry for the cross-post :-D
##

So, I'm the market for a new laptop.

around about £1200 mark..
I'm currently looking at Rock as my main choice, and Vadim as a back up option.

The reason i'm looking at "gaming" laptops is quite simple.. they tend to have the power to run 3d modeling/sound apps far better.
Lets face it, the only games i'm ever likely to play on this are WoW and possibly EVE if i ever can afford to start it again.

Mr Endsleigh will be paying for this, so ideally, i'd like to get my monies worth.
Suggestions folks?

I'm also kinda open to the idea of a MacBook Pro.. but i'm not sure of "software availability" any tips from the 3d artists and music people out there would be nice!

Cheers!

Part of my course this year requires me to develop a Technical Design Portfolio.
As my department is creating a website showcase that demonstrates my work this year, I figure an online portfolio would be a good idea...

So, I'm looking for a webhost to serve a fair amount of content.

Heres what I reckon I'll need:
PHP/Perl
MySQL
Shell Access
Mail
Some kind of control panel for when my limited knowledge of *nix fails me.
At least 1gig of storage.
A decent chunk of bandwidth.
Good customer/community support.

Most importantly, It needs to be fairly swift.. I've had trouble before with servers that strain under the smallest of loads.. it felt like someone had rigged up a Sinclair ZX as the host, not so much fun.

Unfortunatly, Home hosting isnt an option, and I dont think I really need a dedicated server..

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate them... thanks :-)

Disregard that. It seems the below comment has saved the day!
